Lower fender bolts
« on: July 20, 2011, 11:04:02 PM »
The fender bolts have me stumped.  You never seem to take enough pictures when you take things apart.  The one thing I cant figure out is the bracket and bolt that holds the lower portion of the fender just behind the wheel.  Was the bracket installed between the splash shield and the edge of the rocker or was it installed out side of the splash shield?  Now what fastener was used to attach the fender to that bracket?

The bracket goes behind the splash shield. There is a U nut that clips onto it than the bolt goes through the fender into it.

Now is it the same size as all the rest of the u clips and bolts for the fender?  It seems like the head sticks out like a sore thumb.  You would think they would use something with a lower profile.

The U nut goes on the bottom flange, not the one against the firewall.  Hold the bolt on the bottom lip of the fender at the rear.  The firewall is just a hex head sheet metal screw, same as the 3 up the flange on the apron.  The clip just snadwiches between the spash shield and the firewall.
