66 Brake pedal style

My pedal is like the 1st picture.  I know no one will ever PULL upward on the pedal but it feels like if it did happen, the pushrod would come out at the front and fall down.
The second picture shows a rubber stop, like earlier Mustangs.  Should I fool with putting the earlier style with a stop on the car.  Has anyone ever had a problem with the "no stop" kind?
