recommended clutch for my 428
« on: March 06, 2025, 10:17:25 AM »
I'm looking for a recommendation for a clutch for my 70 428 car. I've looked at Mc Leod and Centerforce
clutch web sites. They all state performance, I never seen a stock one.. I'm looking for a stock clutch that is easy to press. I'm 56 years old and I want to drive this car every weekend with out it killing my leg. Any help and if so a part number, so I can look  the clutch up on line. Thanks again for everyone's help.

I had issues with my McLeod Long style clutch chattering and switched to a Centerforce with good results.  Just as important for your needs, I urge you to convert the clutch pedal to the roller bearing instead of the bushing.  It makes a big difference in the effort required.

Centerforce clutch on mine with the "helper" spring removed from the pedal assembly. Very easy pedal.

Now my car doesn't have the grunt that yours will off the line.

I believe rockhouse66 is referring to the clutch pedal assy bearing upgrade. Would highly recommend. You can pull the green spring out when you do that.
