Roll bar cut out on C9ZB-6331071 panels
« on: February 15, 2025, 02:10:38 PM »
Were these panels modified at AO Smith to clear the roll bar?

And since the cut out extends downward further than needed to clear the roll bar,  makes me wonder if the roll bar was initially designed to extend down to the floor.

A previous owner cut speaker holes in the originals.  So rather than attempt to patch the holes, i found a nice set and am recreating the cut out.  These questions entered my mind because cutting out the lower portion of the cut out where it requires a radius cut at the bottom is the most time consuming part of the cut out process.  Although not that difficult to do,  it does make me wonder why they went to the trouble of extending the cut out down onto the flat section of these panels when there was no need to.

The panels were modified and cover panels added at AO smith to clear the roll bar.

Yes...exactly what Bob says here.  Here is a photo showing that detail when installed from a 1969 GT500 I am working on right now.
