Topic: Timing Cover for 1964.5 260 CID

The timing cover that is currently on my 260 CID engine is a 1975 part and it does not have a timing pointer cast in.  It appears to have a hole that a pointer would be pressed into?  So I am looking for an appropriate timing cover. 

According to Bob Mannel's book there are a few options.

C4AE-6059-B
C40E-6059-B
C40E-6059-A

I am looking for one of these preferably the C40E-6059-A.

Let me be a little more specific.  My car is a May 12, 1964 car and the engine was assembled January 31, 1964.  So preferably I would like to get a timing cover between January and March of 1964 if possible.

A free bump with a question attached.

The timing cover on the early recessed water pump style is the back of the water pump impeller area. In other words, the back plate of the water pump is the timing cover.
Later years changed the design of the pump and the timing cover. The pump had its own plate to separate the impeller area from the cover.

On the early design this flat impeller area is usually degraded by cavitation or corrosion.

Has anyone successfully TIG welded the flat area where a large portion of the degradation occurs?
