1966 Mustang Round-up Rally
« on: March 03, 2011, 02:22:11 AM »
This 1966 Mustang Round-up Rally emblem was on a '66 Mustang I recently did some work on.
It's the only one of these I've seen. Just thought I'd share it with you!
How many more Mustang Round-up events were held?

I have a '66 glove box door with one of those also.  No idea about what it was exactly.

The rallys were held in many regions so Ford saved some money, I believe, by not placing a date or location on these generic dash plaques they sent out to dealers.

The programs, I think, ran at least into 69.   Have some newsletters around somewhere

I have one that was on the glove box of my car when I purchased it and like you hadn't seen another like it.  I posted on the Hipo forum and found that there was a 65 version as well that had some minor deviations from the 66 style. Here is the link.

Here is mine. I plan to reinstall it on the glove box of my car after the restoration is completed this spring.

Yes, Jeff's info is correct. These were Ford Factory sponsored events that were supposed to start and promote Early Mustang clubs back in the day, held around the country..(Promoted by your local Ford Dealers at the time.) Believe it of not, There is huge amount of video that was taken at these events that exists, and I have seen some of it about 15 years ago. I don't know who has all of the footage, but a Video could easily be produced.
Jeff is right, It died out in '69.
