Not sure what direction I am going to go with Dad's vert just yet, but for now I want try not break, damage or ruin any original parts. However I want to fix an annoying little thing, an inaccurate fuel gauge. When the tank is full it only reads 3/4. I am hoping that it only requires removing and little bending for the needed adjustment. To start with the vert was undercoated at some point in time. I started scrapping some off, then I noticed the clamps holding the rubber fuel line to the sending unit and fuel line. Are they "special" or can I get a replacement or does it really matter?
As far as I know this vert is from the first day of production at the San Jose plant, due the production number and date code. Date codes on the fenders, hood, deck lid and other various places are consistent with a July build date and that everything is original.
Cliff notes: Are the clamps on the fuel tank sending unit special, or should I just cut them off.
