Topic: Headliner at Windshield Opening - 1969

1969 Fastback - Metuchen

Headliner Install 1969 Sportsroof/fastback.  ALL GLASS OUT.

QUESTION:

Does the headliner wrap AROUND (glue on the interior side, then also on the 'exterior/windshield side') the pinchweld on the Front Glass (windshield)?

I'm sure this has been covered but my searching isn't getting me to it.

It was my understanding the headliner wrapped around pinch weld on REAR glass, but STOPPED AT THE EDGE OF PINCHWELD on Windshield on 1969.

I've watched several YT videos by 'pros' and 'mustang restoration companies' and they are all 'wrapping/gluing around the windshield pinch weld'.  That would indicate the windshield sealer/adhesive would then be laid on TOP OF THE HEADLINER material.  That would seem to be 'sub optimal'?  But I'll do it if that's the way it is supposed to be....

I've always wrapped it at front and rear so that it gives me a real solid foundation to pull and tug against as I work out the wrinkles and such. So front, sides and rear by the time I'm done.

Not sure if I have pictures of that edge on unrestored cars. Not really a reason to take one comes to mind but I might have. Will take a look

As for sealing. Haven't had any problem but of course the cars really don't get rained on nor do they get soaked if washed.
