Correct carburetor for the 1967 Mustang
« on: September 25, 2024, 10:43:47 PM »
Hello
I have a 1967 from mustang 289 2v SJC car with the thermactor system. The carburetor was replaced and is not correct. I have done some research and I think the correct carburetor is the Autolite 2100 C7DF-V. Can anyone confirm this or tell me if there is a guide where I can look it up?

thanks
Bob

C7DF-V identification number is listed for this application in the shop manual, page 10-103 with the following caveats: automatic transmission, "late production".  Late is not identified here.  "Early" production lists "C7DF-H or C7DF-N".

In the 1960-1968 Master Parts & Accessories Catalog (MPC), section 95, page 5, there is a cross reference from the identification number to the service part number.  That may or may not help.  The C7DF-V service carb is C7DZ-9510-H.  On page 14 there is a vehicle application chart that lists the -H, -N, and -V variants. However, they are all grouped together as equivalent, with a common service replacement.  No notations to provide a clue as to early vs. late.

The only other thing I can add is that my 67 SJ C-code from December 1966 has the C7DF-V, and the date code aligns.

As you are new to the forum, I will direct you to this forum's library. There is a thread on the second page titled "Carburetor List By Year and Engine" that has your answer, with references. There are a lot (yes it is two words) of other threads with other pertinent Mustang and Ford information in the library. I recommend you "browse" it at your convenience.

1967 Mustang 289 2V (C-code) signature car has the original 2100 C7DF-V carburetor.  San Jose build, November 1966.

The affixed brass carburetor tag, which signifies a Thermactor application, reads:
AUTOLITE
C7DF V
