Is the hood striker for a 67 to be phosphate and oil? Is anyone doing any P&O that I could send you my striker to P&O for me? Just thought it could be an option for me.

Yes, it is phosphate and oil. It is not that hard to do yourself and if you plan on doing the rest of the car correctly you will find many other places to use it.

Thanks! I should clean the hood striker with EvapoRust then do the phosphate and oil? I shouldn?t sand blast it, correct? I don?t have a tumbler. EvapoRust it per the directions on the container, then phosphate and oil it. I found EvapoRust at our local Tractor Supply Company!!

NO! The problem with EvapoRust is how do you remove it from your now "non-rusty" item. The phosphate and oil works best on a clean, DRY part.

I shouldn't sand blast it, correct?

Wrong! Actually, sand may be too abrasive. I prefer glass beads and turn my compressor down to 80 psi. That works fine.

I don?t have a tumbler.

A hood striker may be a bit to large for a tumbler. I used my tumbler for hardware, tumbling for a week in iron filings.

Sooo?.what would your recommendation be on how to phosphate and oil my hood striker? All I have access to is a sandblaster, no glass beads. I thought EvapoRust is the way to go to clean the rust off of items to get them ready to ?refinish.? I?m confused on how to move forward with the hood striker. Thanks!
