As I continue to clean up the underneath of my car, I have the opinion that both times the car was repainted, the painter taped off the rocker moldings and just painted from there up.
Because of that, my red-oxide factory epoxy is in very good condition. The only thing I actually REMOVED was the bead of black seam sealer in the inner corner of the pinch weld.
I thought a few of these pictures may be of value to those who keep a library of photos of unrestored cars. In the pictures, you can clearly see many details.
Among them:
* Red was sprayed mostly from one side because at the buck-skid attachments there is a hard circular line on one side and a fogged pattern on the downwind side.
* Even though this was a "DARK" (Nightmist) car, blackout was clearly applied.
* Very little to almost no Nightmist overspray anywhere and very little blue paint was applied below the moldings. This indicates the painter was spraying downward.
* Some kind of grayish primer/sealer was used below the moldings and between the blackout and red-oxide??. Not sure how it got there? I THINK??? it's original.
