Deluxe Decor Glove Box
« on: May 23, 2011, 12:56:12 AM »
Hello:
I have a glove box door, C5ZB-6506044-B that has the woodgrain applique on the front, however by looking in the corners, it appears that there may be a black camera case finish below.  Is this correct for an A code car and deluxe decor? I did notice the backside of the pony emblem has rivets, so perhaps the woodgrain is original as it runs beneath the emblem?
Thanks!

Yes, that is correct.  Wood grain glove box doors for 65-66 were simply a metal backed wood grain applique that went over the camera case texture that was molded into the door.  That's why the '65 standard GT glove box door is not that rare since one could just remove the wood grain to expose the camera case.
