68 GT390 beltline weatherstrip problems
« on: May 21, 2024, 08:05:34 AM »
Hi all

I'm restoring a 1968 Fastback (GT390, San Jose, Feb '68 build) and have used a beltline weatherstrip kit from CJ Ponyparts. As many seem to have found (with several brands) , the outer rubber seal isn't wide enough to reach the glass adequately.

I've spent hours adjusting the tracks and vent window to get the side glass as outboard on the door as possible.

What doesn't help is the rubber strips seem to naturally curve down in profile rather than up.

The ones I have, when held flat, measure 14mm/ 9/32" wide.

First two pics are passenger window up and down. Third is the driver up. You can see the strip still flops down at the rear of the door.

Any input whatsoever gratefully received ? I need this to be 100%.
