Seat upholstery piping question - Mustang 67 red(deluxe)
« on: May 04, 2024, 10:25:19 AM »
Hi all,
my name is Joerg and I am from Germany.
I recently bought TMI deluxe upholstery and now recognized that the piping color differs.
The piping on the upholstery that was I installed looks like it?s all painted in the same color also the slight metallic effect is visible on the piping.
I wanted to ask is anyone can tell if the TMI upholstery comes with non-painted pipings or did I get a defect product.
Besides that I consider the appearance as imperfect, I fear the non-painted pipings might bleach from sunlight especially on my convertible.
TMI didn?t answer my question which is quite disappointing.

2 photos attached: former upholstery vs. TMI new ones
Thanks a lot in advance
Joerg

Hi Josh, welcome to the site. I agree that the piping looks off on the TMI covers. Sadly, that is often the case with reproduction materials, close is good enough. If you want it right, you may have to look for NOS materials. That also is not always easy either. Distinctive is another company that makes covers. You may want to ask them for a sample.
