Underside color of September 65 and wheel wells
« on: February 12, 2024, 01:47:59 PM »
Hi all,

Sorry if this has been covered before! I am restoring a Metuchen built 66 K code and want to get things right. I am painting the underside red oxide.

The car in question is Wimbledon White and I need to know please if the wheel wells should also be body color Wimbledon White, if this is the case would or should you be able to see red oxide anywhere once rear wheels are removed looking straight on? If not I wonder where to paint red oxide up to, I appreciate any help.

Rear wheel wells are fairly consistent between plants.  Body color over sound deadener.

There are original examples in the Unrestored section, this one is an early NJ car: https://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=5484.0

Don't forget the black pinch weld black out that would extend slightly at the forward area and the section at the rear onto the lower wheel well edge or frame when the spray started up again at the back edge.

Just one of hundreds of examples

One example of the black overspray
