I have been searching and purchasing various constant tension spring clamps to find one suitable for the fuel line hose on our 1967 Shelby GT350. I tried AMK ...no luck, and the 3/8 clamps from NPD are great but for 3/8 application.I tried local Autozone and Napa.AutozoneDescription: Dorman - Help Hose Clamp 16 pack 90099.https://www.autozone.com/collision-body-parts-and-hardware/fuel-hose-clamp/p/dorman-help-hose-clamp-16-pack-90099/347151_0_0This kit contained 2 clamps (1/2) suitable for 5/16 fuel hose application. These clamps feature long rounded tangs which allows you to square them off and still have long tangs. These clamps had to be modified as follows to have the appearance of the clamps that were originally used by using a dremel with a cutoff wheel. Yellow lines denote modified features.1. Square off 3 tangs 2. Along the bands circumference the wide part transitions to the narrow part with a 90 degree feature vs an angle as in the originals. I used the dremel to change 90 to angle.3. Painted clamps olive drabNapa also had constant tension clampsDescription: Hose Clamps, Fits 1/2" OD hosehttps://www.napaonline.com/en/p/SME7019502These clamps pictured below actually had a briggs and stratton designation on the packaging. The Napa clamp had the shorter length rounded tangs, of which were still usable when the tangs were squared off slightly, however resulting in a much shorter tang then the Dorman clamps.
I went to auto zone to check out the clamps and that number (Description: Dorman - Help Hose Clamp 16 pack 90099.)corresponds to a much smaller tiny clamp. Confirmed same 90099 number on the blister pack. I showed the clerk the auto zone online image from your link and he double checked and confirmed that number corresponded to the much smaller clamps. I went to Advance Auto and the same thing with small clamps in the help section .
BobAutozone Description and link has been corrected.I will circle back with a picture of the package I bought off the rack in the store. Also to address your mentions, filter is a motorcraft from NPD (just found an orig Autolite C5AE-9155-A4, need to install) and yes fuel line is stainless.Carl
Forgot about adding pic of package. All tension clamps in this set have very long tangs that can easily be squared off.
Thanks for helping others. To help them make choices other than they don't have the original markings what is the finish on these replacements?
Thats what we are here for!The finish our of the package is a black spring steel finish. After modifiying the clamp as noted in this thread I painted them the drab olive green. As Bob G. noted above some of the 5/16 clamps were the dark spring steel as these seem to be out of the box. You could modify these as noted in orig post with a dremel then apply Perma-Blue to the modified edges.
