Selling a 1967K
« on: March 07, 2023, 07:33:16 PM »
Hi All,

I'm getting things in order to sell my 1967 K Code Fastback.  I've sold past cars at the large auction houses, eBay and private party.  With the rarity of the 67 HiPo's I wanna to make sure I'm using the best venue for advertising/selling.  Is BAT a good choice?  Seems the site is getting fair value for their listings.

Thanks
Shawn

BaT is an excellent venue to sell a nice car. I have bought and sold several there. I can give you some BaT specific selling tips to help you get the best price for it if you are interested.

I think we would all be interested to hear about selling tips.  But my understanding is that they are setting the selling or reserve price and if you dont like it then they will not list your car.  And I also think they write the description?  Not sure how much owners can do to edit the description.  But right now Bring a Trailer is to me the best place to auction a car....much better than any in person auction.

Last time I reached out to BaT was in 2019 when selling a 1967 GTA Fastback.  They weren't interested in my car due to the reserve and declined to take the listing.  I tried to educate them on the car to justify the value with no luck.  I sold the car at a different venue and it exceeded the reserve I presented to BaT.  Maybe things have changed with their personnel and background regarding values?  With the rarity of the 67 K cars everyone is always looking for a comparable public sale which is difficult.

Ditto the above comments. I think they do well with what they know but pass on what they don?t.

I tried to list something this week. I wanted a low reserve. They only wanted no reserve, which I told them thanks for the consideration.

A while back I was selling a 59 MGA. A true Bring a Trailer project.
They also wanted a higher reserve than I wanted.
I sold it on eBay for really good money using the reserve I wanted.

Bring a Trailer should be renamed to "Bring an Exotic."
