I had believed that assembly line trays all had the holes, till recently I found two cars that had no holes and properly date coded tray to the build date of the car. Both cars were built in 1966. I think it may have been the case where if the supply of non-hole trays ran out they substituted the holed version even if it did not get the tilt column.

I supplied a picture of a "no hole example" early in this thread (of a 22F tray). This particular tray is off my November 2, 66, San Jose (actual build date). August 26 stamp date. FWIW, the example has Thermactor and AC. Supposedly, this example should be a 24F battery but the Marti Report does not call out for HD battery.

My 67 Shelby has the Original none hole battery tray. I also have 67 390GTA it has the Original 24F battery tray with the correct date codes and it doesn't have holes.


I need to find at least a nice condition correct date code battery tray with no holes or with holes.

How bad is your top tray?
I've rescued a few parts with high build primer.
It just takes a lot of time.

I can restore my battery tray but it has some rust between the tray and bracket as well.

I prefer to find another one.
