U Joints

My driveshaft has both u-joints that are SPICER brand and have grease zerks.

I don't think these are OEM.  Am I right.

Originals will have no zerts and the main body will have a cupped out area in the center.

Well I found out from Dead-Nuts-On, yesterday, that their U-Joints will not fit my driveshaft (MINE HAS INSIDE LOCKS).

What are you guys who have inside locks doing for Concours?

I really need a picture of what the 66 Metuchen C-Code, OEM, Inside-Lock universals look like.
Jeff,the pics you posted are outside lock and the guy ad Dead-Nuts says the inside ones look totally different.  He says he's only seen one pair of OEM ones and that was when a customer sent in their unrestored driveshaft for refurb??

If anyone has an NOS pair, even if they are the ones with zerks, I may be interested.

I think most folks with concours cars use normal replacement u-joints and then put a grease plug in the hole for the grease fitting.  I've also heard of some filling the hole or grinding off the plug so it's smooth.  U-joints are something kind of hard to see under a car, so I think a lot of times they are overlooked in judging.  But, of course, you have to leave room for a deduction if your car has the grease fittings.

rangoon red 65 Mustang JR. go-cart serial#02. not driven much.
Still drive them to the nationals/they do clean up! 
Gold card judge for 67-68 concours class.

While you search for the right ones ;)  Difficult to see at times but I don't think some of miss them very often

There was a supplier of high performance U joints at one point that produced ones without zert fittings (the channeling design for the grease creates some weak points) Though the design of the main body differs from the originals at least you would not have the zert, a plug or a channel to give it away

 Jeff, you are right. We all want our cars to be authentic. I am thinking from a concours driven point of view. National events are farther away than they used to be, increasing the driving distance for the driven cars. U joints live in a harsh environment. I just need to know that I have a good quality joint that will last and be servicable and not fail me on the road.  Bill.

Fully understand - sometimes we owners just have to make the best choice for us and take the hit if need be to make sure our cars and family are safe. Loosing a point would not keep me awake at night ;)
