Topic: Shoulder belt retainer

Does somebody have the dimensions and material used to make the retainer? Has anybody tried to make one? Ive seen the pictures doesnt look that difficult.

Are you asking about the support/anchor plate above the headliner and roof rail?

Very rare and unpopular option

If I were going to make one I would likely used a floor plate from another car for the seat belts then trim it so it can be plug welded in place

I think he may be asking about the retainer the Velcro is attached to. I have only seen one of these cars and do not remember the details.

Are we talking about basic part number 60236 "front seat shoulder harness retainer"?

If so it is the same as full size Ford, Fairlane, Thunderbird, Falcon.  There are plenty of those around including the junkyard I frequent.

Note that there was a running change on 10/17/66, not sure what that was.

Marty, John : I thought of that, or possibly one of the other "retainers" that I have circled in red on the attached. It all depends on what he is describing as "retainer".
Hopefully, with the illustrations we have provided, he can let us know.

I wonder if these were used at the end of 1967?
Been looking for a part number for these coat hooks. These were used at the start of 1968 for securing the looped end of the shoulder harnesses. In the 1968 Cougar Interior assembly manual there is a notation "supercedes 4-26-67".
The illustration is dated 2-29-68, and shows the small rubber colored coat hooks which carried over into 1969.
The metal coat hooks are right and left specific.

Never seen them but then there were so very few cars order so few examples in unrestored, especially, condition are around. Sure if you owned a car this would be a great modification to help address the issue in 68 or later

First thanks for the replies and yes Im talking about part #60236 the small retainer with velcro attached. The anchor nut for the strap was still in the car but the retainer walked away or rusted away!!!
