Trunk Lid Spring Driver's Side Clip - This post was originally part of a larger thread that included six different running changes so choose to separate out each to reduce the clutter

It appears that workers in 1964-5 figured out that installing the fastback trunk spring was easier if they installed an electrical clip on the driver's side end of the spring where the loop is visible after it passes through the trunk hinge on that side as illustrated above. As you can see the electrical clip on earlier cars was left in place and in turn was painted body color. Workers after the change likely removed the clip after they used it and before the paint stage of the build. A similar process was repeated on 1967 San Jose built fastbacks. Clips has been identified as likely a 372047-S100.

In the survey the highest San Jose sequential numbered example with a clip left on the driver's side end of the trunk spring was - 5R09A1867xx
The lowest sequential number example with the driver's side trunk hinge without the clip was   - 5R09K201xxx.

A difference of about 15,000 unit numbers most of them being unrelated (to the subject) coupes.

Timeline currently suggests that the change over likely took place midway through February 1965 to the end of March 1965 at San Jose
