I believe they were just molded black plastic and not painted. Mine cleaned up well to non- glossy sheen. Someone here will eventually verify.

The ones I have are new reproductions from CJ Pony as my originals just crumbuled, and they are very shinny and my originals seem to be a mat finish . I have already painted the rest of the interior with a paint gun and just want to paint these with the correct color and a spray bomb .  Your help is appreciated.

If my memory served me correctly I used SEMS Landau black on some plastic interior parts. I'm sure someone who has done it more recently will chime in.  :)
