Topic: 68 390gt Radiator Support Hood Seal

Hi all. Can anyone please tell me if the 67-68 390gt had a hood seal?
 I ask as i have no existing staple holes and don't know if the panel has been replaced at some time.

Yes they installed them on 67s but its best not to mix years or even assembly plants so lets focus on only 68's in this thread.

Not sure where your car was built (might want to add that to your signature    but it would likely help the discussion

But if you look at the pictures posted in the unrestored picture threads and similar cars you will find examples with the seal. How they were attached will likely match up with when and where your car was built

If you provide more details than we can look further into the subject and confirm additional details and or we can investigate if your radiator support has been changed at some point in the cars history

All of the radiator support hood seals I have seen were stapled, if you do not have any staple holes you most likely did not have a seal, my 68 CJ never had a seal. I could be wrong, but I have never seen a hood seal attached any other way.

Looking through my pictures

It does appear that in some cases, as we've found in 69 Dearborn cars) when the staple machine didn't work they used electrical clips and this could be one reason why an original radiator support on a car that was suppost to receive a seal would not show any holes. Of course we still don't know where the OP's car was built
