What is this bracket which is on the back side of the left side air vent used for? This is on a March 66 San Jose fastback.

That holds the turn signal flasher can.

The bracket looks like it was used to hold the turn signal flasher. There's a bit of a time problem though, as the 66 Mustang Electrical Assembly Manual (AM0013 pg 19, dated 3-30-66), shows the flasher attached without a bracket, using a "pin" on the flasher's end stuck in a hole in the vent.
