cowl fresh air vent

Any suggestions on how to remove the vent door from the plastic housing on the kick panel fresh air vents?  Want to refinish the vent door but not sure it can be removed without breaking the plastic housing.

If the temperature of the plastic is warm, the housing will flex to pop out the doors. They are on a pivot rod.

Thank you for the response. I removed the cable and was able to turn the door to the back side of the cannister. Had to force it past the stop. Taped off the the seal around the door, glass beaded it then refinished. Turned the door back around and reinstalled the cable. Happy with results.
