Topic: Fenders?

Just checked some of the details of my two fenders, on my 66 Metuchen Convertible.

The left one has the raised crush-zone tringles that were discussed in this thread.  http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=1399.msg7095#msg7095
The date code stamp on it is 2 22 2.  This is consistent with the mid-march scheduled build date.

The right one DOES NOT not have the raised triangles.  The date code stamp is 2 28 3.

My question is ...Did all 66 fenders have the raised triangles?
There is no evidence of any collision damage repair on the front end.  Both apron extensions, and the radiator core support have date stamps in the late FEB window.    I'm thinking the right fender is original. 
I suppose it could be a 65 fender with 2 28 3, but the car has never had any rust.

Should I try to locate a raised triangle right fender?

Bryn, it has been my observation that cars in the window of manufacture date of your car may well have only the left (drivers side) fender with the triangle to make the vehicle more crashworthy.  I do not think you need search for a different fender for the passenger side.  What you have is in my opinion normal for the time frame.

+2, no triangles on RH fenders.

+3. My 66 GT350 still has the original right fender and (as near as I can determine) a 3/29/66 scheduled build date. The fender date code is 1 14 3, no triangles.

I also have been "E-JU-KATED" now about the triangles. I was at a car show recently, sorry forgot the camera, and was next to a early Dearborn vert. His front end had been replaced, fender date codes did not match the production time. It was a very early Mustang, serial number in the 3k and he claimed it was built in March. No lip on the hood and the triangles on the driver side fender. Having never noticed the triangles before I assumed they were repos. But know I know better.
