Power Steering Pressure Hose
« on: March 02, 2011, 12:43:40 PM »
Does anyone have a good picture of the pressure hose installed on a 65 car for the Ford power steering pump? Trying to determine if I have the correct hose or not.  I seem to have a slight leak where the hose connects to the pump and it's as tight as it can go but maybe I have the wrong hose on the car...I try to righten it and it won't tighten anymore...

I don't think that the H/P hose is your problem. I've found that the seal/gasket at the rear of the pump canister is leaking. The only way to fix this is remove the canister and reseal. Va. Classic Mustang and NPD sell the seal kit.

Ughh...not what I reallty wanted to hear, but it's something...Apparently this was supposed to be a rebuilt pump that I purchased last year...Getting the pump in wasn't an easy task since the car as AC...I'll stop by my local Mustang shop and see if they have that kit...Anyone have directions on how it is rebuilt?

I just did the same thing a couple weeks ago.

I got the seal kit from my local Checker (now O'Reilly), part number 8501, Powercraft is the manufacturer.

Kit showed up in less than 24 hours and box was marked made in USA.

Directions were included in the kit.
