68 390 GT Heat riser & S tube pictures
« on: September 03, 2021, 12:04:44 PM »
Would appreciate photographs of the correct riser and S tube.  I have seen two variations, one with the cutout on the bottom of the riser, on West Coast Cougars,
and cars with no cutout.

Are both correct?   Could I use the latter without the cutout?
Please PM me if you have a correct one lying around...

Thanks.

The 68 is a one year only style heat shield. Believe you will find its a two piece unit like the example shown below that was identified by the owner when posted

Often see them for sale with only the outer section as these are not easy to install or remove with the engine in the car

Think the S tube is shaped like the 428CJ though the screw hole may be located differently. Sorry don't have pictures of specific details on that subject handy

Thanks for posting - forgot about the trimming of the top/wider neck joining seams

Thanks,    I saw Semo makes a repop of the tube for a 428.  Could I use it by trimming  the top and  cutting the flanges back?

IF your very careful I'm pretty sure it would work. Your going to need a picture of how the uncrimped edges at the top look before you start
