Passenger Splash Shield and Antenna Install
« on: July 06, 2021, 02:31:22 PM »
A post in another board had me thinking about the dealer antenna install.

The passenger splash shield had to be removed in order to install the antenna, right?
So just like other bolts that should show install/reinstall marks (power steering pump install on the factory engine line) the shield bolts (and shield) should also show signs they were removed and replaced.

Theoretically yes . In the real world the signs you are discussing are not typically pronounce enough to be noticeable after the install was done. For example the  top side splash shield screw was not painted and so will not show scaring like painted screws or bolts will. I would install and seal the splash shield as the factory would then take it out again to install the antenna . You will get a nominal example of the after math of the install . Don't expect much evidence of the install.

I should mention that the antenna install can be done without taking the shield out so there is that.

The antenna is made to be installed without disturbing the fender or the splash shield in any way. The dealer cut the hole with a hole saw, used a notching tool to make the locating notch, and installed the antenna without any removal of anything.
