D0OA-2B328-D Brake Distribution Block Diagram
« on: June 20, 2021, 07:22:20 AM »
Even if the Osborn chassis assembly manual was readable, as best I can tell the brake line routing diagram only provides detail for the drum brake application and specifically calls out the brake distribution block for only that application.

For 1970 power front disc brake, I believe the distribution block should be D0OZ-2B257-C, stamped D0OA-2B328-DX (I don't understand if the "X" stamping is part of the part number).

Does anyone have a diagram or picture which indicates the brake line routing for this application? WCC provides the diagram shown below, yet it's labeled -DZ instead of my -DX and I've seen conflicting information and wish to confirm what they have labeled.

FYI, I find this link very useful for rebuilding this distribution block, which to my understanding is the first year the proportioning valve was built into the block?

Thanks.

You can find this diagram in the 1970 Ford service manual.

The 65-72 MPC incorrectly lumps the 70 in with 69.  Here is a picture of what is listed for 71-72.

This is in alignment with what Scott's picture shows

As for parts, the service part for 70, 71 and 72 was D0OZ-2B257-C as of 1975.

There was no separate 2B091 proportioning valve after 1969.

Many current day "mechanics" have never heard of a separate proportioning valve on a car. And they argue with you about it.
Ah, "youts" (re "My Cousin Vinnie" - Joe Pesci to Fred Gwynne).

THANKS guys!  Much appreciated!

I have a full set of 1970 shop manuals, yet for the life of me, in any of those volumes I cannot find the image Scott posted.

That '71-'72 image is fantastic!

Jeff, do you have any pictures of the firewall area, just a bit lower and towards the transmission tunnel? I'm trying to confirm precisely where the "spiral" brake line wrap is supposed to be placed on the front-to-rear brake line.  The reproduced brake lines come with these spiral wraps, yet they move around during shipping and once arrived, I'm not sure where the wrap should be on the front-to-rear brake line.... near the transition from tunnel to firewall???

It appears at least twice in volume 1 (Chassis)
Scott's image is in the disk brake section 12-03-03
and also in the drum brake section 12-02-03
