Correct finish for inside taillight buckets
« on: May 28, 2021, 07:02:40 AM »
Guys:
Is the paint finish gloss white, or satin white? 70 Metuchen build.

I don't think I have ever seen gloss white on Mustang components, so I will say that they were satin. ;)

Hello Martin,  Greg in Seattle here with the 70 G O Boss,( Shelby Parts in Minnesota) They were selling 70 Mustang tail light housings that were replated and repainted inside some sort of white paint. I purchased a pair a year ago but he quit painting them a little bit before that .I've heard rumors of a glow in the dark type or reflective white paint that goes in there.   Greg   70 G O Boss 302

If you look at the article in the Library about restoring 68 Cal Special and 68-70 Shelby taillight light assemblies I listed a reflective clear overspray that is sold for mail boxes

Was happy with the use if you want to consider a non original finish in an area that can't be seen once the car is together

I've had this car for over 30 years -- who knows what the previous owners did?

But, I have a dull (now) white around the edge as well as on the outside of my 70 Boss.
I presume the inside is this color, but I'm not taking it apart.
