Topic: 1970 Quarter window upper grommets

My upper quarter windows are loose. I think there must be a plastic grommet for the post in the upper window frame that are deteriorated.  I could wrap tape on the post but is there a better fix? Is there an aftermarket grommet available?  Alan

Both grommets are missing.  Probably lost like other small retainers, that are missing after the paint / body work.  I am going to buy a 5/16 solid plastic rod and make a set.

I used hard teflon tubing that is used for instrument air-lines but any hard plastic tubing will do. As you need so little of it, a good hunt around the house and garage will turn up something that works.

 Updated. Thanks for the input.  I found that a 7/16 OD x 1/4 ID vinyl tube cut to ~ 1/2 in length with one layer of gorilla tape around the outside of the tube is a really good fix.  The quarter window doesn't move in or out but a few thousands of an inch.   Alan
