68 Trunk Mat Underlayment Question and Discussion
« on: February 11, 2021, 06:49:29 PM »
Going to start this one here and maybe do another for 1967. Right now leaving the discussion open to all plants and we'll split it apart if need be.

So far I'm not finding underlayment being installed on all body types of 68 Mustangs between the trunk mat and gas tanks.

The question - Could the installation be connected to certain body types or to interior option (like the small sections of additional underlayment installed under each front seat on Deluxe interior cars?

Possibly even tied to production period.

So just opening up the discussion. Remember need to identify the car the findings came from (when and where) as well in this case the interior style

Thanks

Standard or Deluxe interior? Also when was it finished at Dearborn if I may ask?

This April 25th Dearborn built Mustang GT fastback with a standard interior has underlayment.

There is no evidence of the board used to protect from abrasion by the spare tire.
