Resonators ?
« on: March 19, 2021, 05:05:33 PM »
My 65 GT had resonators when new and I can vaguely remember the sound.  I remember it as a sort of echo chamber drone ?  Anyone still running them ?

Resonators help quiet the exhaust.  If doing a concours restoration, they would be required.

Thank you Charles.  My car falls short of a concours restoration and more of a restored driver type.  Exploring an exhaust system replacement and replacing the resonators might be doable ?  Are there any spec's available for the stock 65 GT resonators ?  Brian

Spec's as in decibel reduction?  I would have no clue on that.  Scott Fuller might be able to answer something like that as he reproduced the original dual exhaust systems for several model years.

No, decibel readings are not where I was going but thanks for the help.  Brian

Don't believe I've ever seen the original engineering drawings.   Don't believe your going to find anything that looks like the originals outside of the current reproductions that are close and reshaping old reproductions might not be worth the time and effort

Thanks Bob.   Little short on the kind of info I am after.  Namely will the OE GT exhaust trumpets fit and will they extend a correct distance out the rear valance ?  Don't think I will pursue this any further.  Thanks for the help.  Brian

I'm running the exhaust system from Virginia Mustang, and am pleased with the sound. Ron
