radios available in 1967
« on: February 28, 2021, 08:35:42 PM »
Are there any guides with pictures of the different radios available in 1967. I am looking for a original radio for my 67 Fastback and looking fro details on how to identify etc.

Thank you!

The C7TZ engineering number prefix stamped into the metal on the side of the radio case would be one identifier.

If you have a Marti it will tell you what radio you had.
Betcha it had an AM radio (number as Bob stated) and it's easy to spot in a sea of used radios -- it has the chrome radio push buttons. A one year only identifier.
AM/FM in that year is a mono FM so it had only the std dash mounted speaker plug. Chrome there too.
AM/8 track would mean you have factory holes in the door. If so you would have the finned full length lower door grill like a deluxe interior car. Unsure about chrome push buttons -- I thought it didn't have any presets.
Richard would know.

No preset push buttons on a 67 8-track. 68 8-tracks do have the preset tuner buttons.
67 AM 8-track picture with a 67 Cougar (MERCURY) face on the chassis and a Mustang (FORD) frequency face adjacent to the chassis for reference of each.

I have images of the RCA Demo tape and case as well, if intetested.

Only the first 3 shown in the first picture are Factory Option Radios.

The last 2 are Ford Accessories.

IMHO, The"artist's rendition" of the AM/FM in the sale brochure, doesn't represent well of the actual AM/FM radio that ended up being used in production. The other two, the AM radio & the AM/8-Track, do look pretty close though IMHO.

Richard : I agree, there is no substitute for an actual picture. So, here you are :

Picture # 1 - AM
Picture # 2 - AM - 8 Track
Pictures #3-#6 - AM-FM

Hope this helps.
