73 convertible top pump
« on: July 23, 2020, 07:17:50 AM »
Hi gang, my question today concerns a mechanical issue. This being my first early convertible not sure of this. My top does go down nicely but recently has been slow going up and now I have to wrestle it up by hand. Am I low on fluid maybe or is my pump giving up? Be nice to know before I tear into things! Thank You!!

Unfortunately you won't know until you dive in - at least a little. Start with the easy (fluid liquid) and go from there.

Not sure but there is likely a section in the shop manual on diagnostic and repair for this area of the car

The 73 pump when working normal easily lifts these top's up and down. Its either a fluid leak or the pump itself it wearing out.
Just do it...
