I just checked the one in the Kit that I Posted earlier. It is not attracted to a magnet, and if I were to guess without a lab test, I would say it is mainly, if not completely, Copper. No apparent coatings. Even in a Zip-lok for several years since that picture was taken, it has tarnished just as Copper does.
Interesting, since the ones on my 57's and 59's are solid, "springy" Brass. Makes me wonder when Ford made the change.

I have only found them with is best described IMO as a oxidized copper/brass surface .

Photo taken today on our '67.  It's the original piece and installation, never been removed to my knowledge.  Non-magnetic copper.
In upper left of the photo is the mark (a bit blurry in photo) that's rubbed off the paint to bare steel, where the copper strap contacts the hood underside.

AM Radio option was ordered with the car.

I didn't note anyone mentioning Drake Automotive makes a relatively accurate reproduction.

Although I have my original and an NOS one, I am curious ; what did you Search under  ?

Bob

Found it. I used too many words to start. Just under "Hood Ground".
And yes, it looks almost identical.
Good catch.

I didn't know about this part that I am missing. I guess I'll have to install one to see if it takes away the static in my original radio. I don't get music from it. May have to send it out for rebuild.

The usual source for static is a poor ground connection. That includes inside the radio. It's difficult to "bench test" a radio in a moving car, but (thru a lot of frustrations) it can be done.

If it were solid copper it would not retain its springiness. Copper is soft and malleable that is why I suspect a copper alloy .

Good point ;probably true. If it were 100% Copper, it would most likely bend when the hood is shut.

It is probably hard anodized copper. It's not as flexible as soft copper, is readily available and inexpensive (a Ford requirement).
