Topic: Original Ford wheels?

 I found two standard steel wheels that are not riveted, and I am unsure if they were truly for a Ford or Mustang for that matter. I cannot find the traditional Ford stamping or i.e. 6MB, 5MD, etc. on them. I do know that there is a small hole in one of the nubs? I’m unsure if these are aftermarket or another car manufacture with the same bolt pattern. They do of course mount to a Mustang spindle/drum without issue. Pics to follow..

Are they 14"?

Is that a number around the valve stem?
Set your camera to a slightly higher resolution as the blowup is not very good.

Yes, these are 14”.

Looks like K1 on one side of the stem hole, then 10   55 on the other side?

Beneath the K1 is another number or just a scratch?

So far it decodes into:
K=Kelsey Hayes
1=Romulus, MI plant
If there is a number under plant it may be year.
There is also a number left of stem hole which might be a 2 or possibly year.
Usually the other side of the hole is Mo and Yr.

The 55 may be 5.5 width which would measure 6.5 overall. This is usually a Mopar thing, but haven't seen many of these.

The have 3 hubcap nubs so they are 67 or prior.

I thought early Ford wheels were hub-centric so if the center hole is very large it may indicate it's Mopar.

I have a 14" Steel Wheel (4-lug) in my '65 Convertible as a Spare.... It has no Ford markings on it other than a Kelsey/Hayes Stamp in the middle part of the wheel tire well... It's all Welded and not riveted...

Kelsey Hayes Welded Rim on the left, Typical Motorwheel Riveted Rim on the right...  Note K/H Stamp in Tirewell on Welded rim on the Left... No other markings on the wheel..and believe me, I looked.

 Interesting. I will try and see how my wheel looks mounted on a hub. If it is NOT for a Mustang I just wanted to get rid of it. If it is for a Mustang, then I would hang onto it, just doing my spring cleaning..    I'll post some pics of my findings.
