Topic: Paint marking for steering linkages? 66 A code with PS

What paint marking should be on the steering linkages for a 1966 A-code GT Power steering. Dec. 1, 1965, San Jose? I found blue paint marking on the right outer tie rod end, but nothing else remained that I could find. Tie rod ends, sleeves, drag link, idler arm?

As always don't worry about these details if you have not address all other short comings. They are more important in the long run and a correct paint mark on a non-original looking part is just silly IMHO

On other cars such as yours

Idler arm frame mount - One or two green stripes
PS Pittman arm - MPC lists a color but it does not match what has been found on 65 original cars with PS so I won't offer it at this point
PS Outer tie rods - Medium blue such as you have already found
Tie rod adjuster sleeves - 
Steering stops - Red daubs (earlier threads had responses found on one or both during 65-66 V8 production)

I found light blue on most of my tie rods and except the outer passenger side one (power steering car). Nothing conclusive on that one. My car is 10/29/64. I only found a red daub on the driver side steering stop on both my fastbacks. Nothing on the passenger side.

As mentioned Chris' findings were from a different year so not sure they relate.

As always, thanks Jeff. I have the original tie rods and sleeve and even purchased an extra set on eBay. that set came with a Ford replacement LH Sleeve, and outer tie rod ( stamped 336 L, otherwise looks correct ). I am putting a best of set from those two sets. However, I do need to locate a good assembly line LH sleeve. Main reason I wanted replacement set. People got too crazy with the pliers over the years and chewed the sleeves up on mine.

I was hoping there would need to be a paint marking on the tie rod sleeves. This is my RH sleeve after cleaning, and it’s the best of the bunch. any ideas how to improve this?

Btw, the other picture is the ps cylinder for my convertible after evaporust, sanding with 180 & 320 and a scouring pad. Just need to replace seals and boots and a little gun blue.

Looks like adding metal then reshaping might be the only way for those deep grooves. Lot of work for the piece
