Welcome to the forum.
I'll need the interior code from the drivers' door data plate to be sure of the color.
A recommendation: in the future, include the info from that data plate in your queries (use xx for the last two numbers of your VIN). There are differences in plant and build date to consider.

Thanks Jim, I do not have a trim code. I am try to recreate the interior colors from my (previuosly owned) early production San Jose built 65 hi po coupe. The car was prarie bronze and had std white interior with gold carpet and dash pad. Everything else inside was white. The car also has transverse exhaust if this helps narrow down the build date and what colors might have been. Thanks, Bruce

In your first post you said palomino, the second post you said gold. Pick one.

Somewhere along the vast reaches of time, carpet names seemed to have changed, apparently adding confusion and causing a lot of questions to be asked.
From an old Mustang parts catalog, I found these descriptions of carpet color combined. No application year or Ford interior codes were included:
- Aqua and turquoise
- Ford blue and medium blue
- Ivy gold and moss green
- Maroon and 66-68 red
- Palomino and light saddle
- Palomino and dark saddle
- Red and 65 bright red.
(Note the two flavors of "Palomino.)
One Mustang vendor lists 11 colors, another lists 16 and a third lists 14.
No wonder people ask.

I have a Ford dealer trim selection book for all 1966 models, including Mustang. For what it's worth, the list of available carpets includes Medium Blue. No reference to Ford Blue. The list includes one other blue - DK BLUE - but with a notation "T-Bird Only."

What does your door data tag have for interior trim code?

First welcome to the site. Hope you find the support and information helpful in your restoration (factory) focused endeavours

If I have a 65 coupe that has white interior with palomino appt. what color carpet do I order?

That color combination shows up as a 64 1/2 combination coded "49"

Checked but I don't have any pictures or examples of that interior code.
Appears to have been a very unpopular interior color combination and the carpet would be the same (well sort of) the dash pad. The brown
