I have several sets of 69-70 doors that have large sections of thick sound deadening material falling off inside the shell. I remember this being a concern with some 67 doors I was working on years ago. It's difficult to get one's arm inside the door shell to remove the material. Media blasting, in my experience, does little (if anything) to remove the sound deadening material.
What tips/tricks can anyone suggest to reduce the time required to remove the old material?
I have always been tempted to simply remove the extremely loose stuff and simply spray in new material. The thought is that the new material will act as a glue to stop further chunks from falling off. But, every time I have that thought, I chuckle and think that usually in life, the easy method fails.
