Early? Ball Joint Question
« on: September 16, 2018, 11:52:01 PM »
Looking through things today found a detail that I was aware of just never asked when it was implemented or when Ford stopped using this version in production

What I'm referring to is the ball joints with the slotted threaded end. See them on 5F07A2706xx below Other pictures of this car are in the thread titled Fall 64 Built Dearborn A Code Coupe - Unrestored Picture Thread in the unrestored picture section

Found this picture of a service replacement ball joint labeled as C2OZ-3049-D that appears to be the same or at least similar

Haven't looked through many other pictures but was just wondering

Gents,
I know this is an older post but as I am doing my research I can make mention the ball joint "slots" in the stud changed over sometime in 1965 production according to the Anghel restorations article titled Upper Lower Control Arms Spring Perches and Tie Rod dated April 2020.

Does anyone have NOS ball joints for 65-66 here?  Here are the lower control arm ball joints I just disassembled for inspection.
