Thx Jeff, I thought I'd searched the site extensively, but didn't think to look for "e brake". (The search engine doesn't like single letters!)
I found a source for the second bracket (the one near the transmission frame hoop) on the Tony Branda website (Part #: PBCB1). Their part says it has a "gold di-chromate finish". I didn't see a hint of gold color on my bracket, but maybe I just hit it too hard with the wire wheel. I don't want to leave it bare metal, so I'll probably paint it black as well.
Perhaps I shouldn't be this detail oriented regarding the originality of my car as it was resurrected from a nearly totaled car in the 80's and shoddily rebuilt using things like sheet-metal screws where bolts should be, Lowes-grade hardware, etc. I knew very little about cars and Mustangs in '84, but this car was shiny and cheap, and I was seduced. Unfortunately, the more I learned about Mustangs, the less I liked mine. I've continued to upgrade it over the years so that I'm quite happy with it now, but in retrospect would have spent far less money by beginning with a better example.
I really identified with your signature phrase. Although I'm not shooting for concours, if I'm going to do it, I might as well do it right.
