OK... I have a special paint '65 GT with a code "29" trim code. Here's my dilemma. The original color has NO metallic palomino paint with the exception of the radio speaker grill and lower windshield trim. The doors, kick panels, etc. are basically a tan color. I've seen this on other 1965 Mustangs. I've seen two code "29"s right next to each other with two distinct paint colors... one that is the traditional palomino metallic... and the other more of a tan like mine. I have a '64 1/2 convertible that is also a "29" that has the typical palomino metallic. When trying to shop for the color in my '65 GT all I can find is palomino metallic. Is anyone aware of this??? If so... Is there ANYONE who sells the palomino that is not metallic and more tan? The GT is a July '65 Dearborn build... The convertible is a July San Jose build. The attached photos are just examples of what I found online, but illustrate what I'm talking about.

Have you been shopping for rattle cans or mixed paint?

Thanks... I was unaware of the searching the library.

I'm interested in both the mixed and rattle cans because I'm not sure which way to go yet. I believe I'm leaning more towards the mixed paint though.

I suspect there is only one “palomino”

It sounds a bit like the white/parchment arguement

You should be able to find an original mix code

Most likely the issue is the repaints you have seen are inaccurate

I am a very happy man thanks to a thread from 2011!!! In the thread someone posted a car that had been restored by Legendary Motors and the truth was revealed to me.  The interior of my car was completely painted in the Light Palomino! I know this was the original color for my car for many reasons. The key was in the overspray. The overspray on the "A" pillars to the roof was Light Palomono. There was overspray on under the dash pad and behind the instrument panel on the unpainted firewall. The paint was also found under the door panels on the original doors. One last place was the back side of the interior quarter trim panels with the insulation glued over the top. I guess the Medium Palomino on the speaker grill cover and the lower windshield trim piece were probably pre-painted stock found in the parts bin. Thanks to all from a very happy man who now has the needed paint codes!
