Ash tray (dash) assembly
« on: February 03, 2020, 05:14:09 PM »
Having pored over the Osborne manuals and missing it- what 4 screws are called out for the slide-out ashtray? P/N

Two are vertical to hold the slide bracket to the upper tab on the dash opening.
Two are on the sides.

Are the heads all showing in the opening, i.e., tapped outward? Or are the screws run into the opening from the lighter side, topside, and glove box side?

Have you looked in the Library Section of this Forum under topic - "Mustang Hardware Spreadsheet 64-66"? You will find two files, one by part number, the other by application. Give it a try.
(PS, it's in the Body manual.)

If I recall correctly they all have to be installed from the "inside" facing outward with the ash tray out of the receiver.  Don't think it will work in reverse

Just to close the thread:
- ashtray bracket needs to be slid into place from back side of dash.
- because of this INSTALL ASHTRAY before AC evaporator or console if you have them.
- bracket tabs outboard of dash opening tabs, they have the threaded holes

Did you scroll far enough to the right to see other year uses, sources and more?

I think I did but I will confess I hid the rows of items not applicable to the 64.5
This is an astounding piece of work. Thanks for reminding me to work with it.
