Tail light ground
« on: January 08, 2020, 08:53:18 PM »
In looking at the wire harness to the tail lights on the 65 there is no ground wire. Therefore I assume that the ground is thru the tail light body. But with the car body painted where would the contact be made for a good ground?
another question, my tail light harness has a bracket/clip near the end by the right side tail light. see pics. is this OE or maybe added when replaced tail light put on car?

That bracket/clip is OEM and I believe it slips over a tail-light bolt.

There are four studs on each taillight housing that go thru the rear panel. All four studs are plated gold zinc which is supposd to conduct electricity better. Two studs have special spacers that have edges that make good conductors. That's ground.
