28 spline Toploader rear seal
« on: October 29, 2021, 01:44:03 PM »
I thought I'd address this in a more generic way than just 67.

What rear seals are used on the various years of the toploader with 28 spline output shaft?
I've seen flat, small boot, large boot.

I wonder if this boot is correct for a 67 28 spline toploader.

I think this seal is for the C6.

The seal with rubber boot is used on a C4 automatic.  Toploader rear seals do not have the rubber dust boot.

Yes he does -- but only for 31 spline toploaders. Those are 2 1/2" OD. Mine is 2 3/8 OD.

I mistook a C4 pic on the unrestored section as the extension housing for a toploader. Rookie error.

My trans came with a 410059 National seal which has red paint around the outside. It also a metal shield on the inside where felt may have been between it and rubber seal.

NPD says their 470059 is correct and the listing is for a 4 speed. It's red.
I guess what I'm asking is the red band you will see when installed the correct assy line look?
