Carter X fuel pump - non button top What do I have?
« on: June 04, 2019, 01:22:12 PM »
No Button top, Carter X marked, 3734S dated Oct 1963. MPC indicates "use with oil pressure gauge". Found in Mannel book under 1964, makes sense. Anyone know applications? Too early for 64-1/2 Mustang with 260/289? Fairlane, Comet, Galaxie?

Other way around. 5/16 inlet, 3/8 out.

That date may be too early but that style was used on the early 260/289 including Mustang. Of course with different date .  They use the same rebuild kit as the 67- up Carter fuel pump kits for the clam shell Carter fuel pumps. Many ebay sellers hype the "X" marking as hipo . I can't remember the last time I saw one without a "X". FE engines of the same era also used that style pump. Of course with the FE pump arm.
