Correct date code for C4ZE G2 SJ radiator for late 66
« on: November 04, 2019, 12:08:23 AM »
I’m hunting for a C4ZE G2 radiator for a thoroughbred project.  The car is a SJ plant hi-po conv with a 7/1/66 projectEd build with 4pd manual trans.  Anyone studied how far off date code are on radiators in SJ to projected build dates?  I don’t know if this is a part that was produced regularly, such as sheet metal or produced in batch runs such as fuel pumps and air cleaners.  What date range of piece would Likely have been used on this car?

Cars that I have records of from that estimated production period had radiators dated from May and June 66 and of course with brazed on identification tags on passenger top end of the radiator bracket

Am I even hunting for a G2 radiator for this late '66 SJ k code?  I have a radiator table that indicates G2 may not have been a standard radiator put in hi-pos, but in other applications including Sheblys.  If I am reading the table correctly it may appear the C6ZE H2 would be the piece used.  I appreciate any help or direction.  Tahnks again

Sorry was focused (since that was the title) on the date rather than the application.

The chart you have (I would guess its the one that has been posted on AMK for years) may have been based on Ford manuals or books (possibly service part numbers) so don't know how accurate it is and most radiators after all these years have been rebuilt and the ID tags not replaced making identification difficult in big numbers for studying

Thanks Jeff.  In your opinion, is the G2 the likely radiator type for a 7//166 SJ hi-po conv?  I believe the Y2 is the same size as G2.  I've heard Y2 may have been the most common piece used on a standard hi-po unless the heavier G2 was ordered.  I have not studied any know originals or done much research so I could use any help you can give me.
