Door Mirror
« on: September 16, 2014, 11:22:04 PM »
Just a little curious about the  left door rear view mirror.  Who was the manufacturer of the assembly line mirror and did they carry a part number, date code or a logo ?  Were they the same mirror/manufacturer for 65 and 66 ?  I have a Rotunda mirror and I know it is a least 15 years old.  Is the Rotunda mirror still being made ?  A side by side picture of a Dyna corn LEFT and the Rotunda RIGHT.  Very close in appearance; the Rotunda has crisper/sharper lines and is 1/16" longer and the same for the circumference.  Brian

Like to re-visit this post and add a bit more info.   ROTUNDA and  ' BE 1000 21' is cast into the base.  Thanks, Brian

Don't believe there was an "assembly line" mirror when the car wasn't ordered with the remote exterior mirror

If you look at the pictures of  of these cars being transported you will see no hubcaps, no radio antennas and no non-remote mirrors. Too much thief and damage in route on the open car transport cars of the time period

If I remember correctly - initially dealers provided and often up sold new owners while later cars had them in the trunk with other uninstalled items, to be installed once at the destination
